The History
In 2006 the Toronto Fashion Show Committee, which consists of over 100 members, will enter 53 years of
raising funds for women’s cancer care. Through the dedication of our committee members and the success of
our Annual Fashion Show, millions of dollars have been raised for research, treatment, and education.
For the past eight years the Committee has supported the Familial Ovarian Cancer Clinic (F.O.C.C.)
at Princess Margaret Hospital. Most recently, the Toronto Fashion Show Committee has supported the
Toronto Ovarian Cancer Research Network and has helped the F.O.C.C. by raising funds to support the
Clinical Genomics Centre. The Toronto Fashion Show Committee has also endowed a “Fashion Show
Fellowship” in ovarian cancer research.
The Venue
The Annual Fashion Show Event is the highlight of the Toronto social calendar and is eagerly anticipated each
year. Our very special program begins with a champagne reception followed by a gourmet luncheon and
fashion show. This high profile event, traditionally held at the Metropolitan Toronto Convention Centre, has
consistently attracted a sell-out crowd of over 1,000 patrons, celebrities and media personalities.
The Previous Shows
The Toronto Fashion Show celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2003 showcasing designs from Valentino,
Christian Lacroix, Gianfranco Ferre, Giorgio Armani and Sonya Rykiel. In 2002, and again in 2005 and 2004, ESCADA
sent their spring collections from Europe to be the feature of the show. The history of the Toronto Fashion
Show includes many other world-renowned designers such as Gianni Versace, Oscar De la Renta, Chloe,
Chanel, Ungaro, Giorgio Couture, Wayne Clark, and Bob Mackie.
